Polaris solid waste network learned that the waste incineration rate in the “Belt and Road” countries is very low and the market space is vast. Leading waste-to-energy companies have turned their attention to overseas markets. What about the overseas waste incineration market?
1) Waste-to-energy generation in the “Belt and Road” countries is in its infancy. In recent years, the domestic waste-to-energy market has developed rapidly, and the layout of the southeast coast has become more and more perfect. A new place for domestic leaders to compete. At present, the waste incineration rate in the “leading” countries is very low. In 2016, only 20% of the 65 countries along the route have built incineration plants, and most of them are still in the early stages of development.
2) Waste-to-energy is the mainstream development trend in countries that "lead the way" Incineration power generation is the mainstream trend of international waste treatment. The process of waste treatment in developed countries is as follows: landfill-based-incineration for power generation-both recycling and incineration for power generation. my country plans to achieve an incineration rate of 50% by the end of 2020, and achieve "zero landfill" of primary waste by 2030. Countries that "lead the way" are eligible for waste incineration.
a) Dense population, tight land resources, rapid increase in waste production, and gradual saturation of landfills; b) Urbanization rate and economic level increase, urban waste removal and transportation systems are gradually improved, and residents are increasingly concerned about the surrounding environment; c) Calorific value It is close to our country and can adapt to our country's incinerators; d) There is a large power gap, and some areas are short of resources, and there is a certain demand for renewable energy power. Many countries have introduced waste incineration power generation support policies. Indonesia, Vietnam and other countries have introduced subsidy policies. The business model is clear, and the on-grid tariff and waste disposal fee are led by the government; some national policies and business models are not yet clear. The on-grid tariff and waste disposal fee are determined by market mechanisms, such as India.
3) Domestic enterprises accelerate their deployment in the "Belt and Road" market. The green "One Belt and One Road" policy has urged my country's environmental protection companies to accelerate their overseas expansion and concentrate their deployment of waste-to-energy generation. Private enterprise projects have many low-value projects. my country's overseas waste-to-energy business model is: equipment sales, investment, construction and operation, mergers and acquisitions of local enterprises/projects. Chinese enterprises take advantage of low investment costs, short construction period, and preliminary operating experience, but they also face the complexity and risks of overseas markets.
